Supporting principals' professional development
Teachers Mutual Bank Harvard Scholarship gives one Principal from a government primary or secondary school in Australia the opportunity to undertake a professional education leadership program at Harvard Graduate School of Education in the USA.
Melissa Proctor is the 2017 winner of the Teachers Mutual Bank Harvard Scholarship. As the Principal of Bass Hill Public School, she has been in the role for 3 years and in that time has turned the school around so that it is no longer viewed by the community as a school “not to go to”.
Her ability to implement a completely different culture at Bass Hill and reduce the suspensions from 50 to 0 in three years makes her an excellent candidate for the Teachers Mutual Bank Harvard Scholarship.
Melissa was selected against a highly competitive field. She has several held leadership positions including:
L-R: Public Education Foundation Executive Director, David Hetherington, Principal Bass Hill Public School, Melissa Proctor and Teachers Mutual Bank CEO Steve James.
