Maybe to raise a healthy family, get a promotion, invest in your own property, to keep up with the kids on a bike ride or even to fit back into your favourite jeans which now seem too tight? Whatever you aspire to, it won’t just happen by magic. It doesn’t matter if the dream is big or small, turning a thought into a positive change requires action. The first step is crucial but easy. Quite simply, it involves writing down exactly what it is you want to achieve on a piece of paper. And I say paper because when you see something that you have physically written yourself as opposed to seeing it on a computer screen or floating around your pain, it will resonate with you stronger than ever. These are your goals and aspirations that you have committed to, nobody else’s. Here’s my advice for you. Write down three things that you wish to achieve in the next three and six months. That’s it! Don’t think too far ahead of yourself, but focus on three things that matter to you most right now that you feel you can control with some focus and determination. Keep the paper visible and safe. If you’re reading this, it means you’re interested in your fitness and wellbeing and perhaps are one of the many teachers who have signed up for the NSW Premiers Sporting Challenge—Staff Challenge. One goal may be to complete a 15 minute run without stopping. Another may be to increase the number of pedometer steps taken within a 30 minute period. Others may want to lose that last 5kg. But whatever it is, take control of your life and put some positive action behind it to make yourself the best version of you that is humanly possible. We are now officially in Winter—how time flies! In less than three months it will be the start of Spring and the countdown to Summer starts again. Let’s make sure that this Summer is the best one we have had in years, for all the right reasons. And it all started with this simple task for us to do today. Get busy writing down your goals and I will check in with you all soon.
