Our impact
At Teachers Mutual Bank, impact means using money in a way that’s purposeful and genuinely good for our members, their communities and the planet.
Because when you’re member-owned, profit isn’t the only goal. It’s a means to do good.
We believe banking can be for good – for you, your community, and the planet.

A global standard we’re proud to meet
Only 60 banks worldwide are B Corp certified1, and we’re proud to be one of them since 2022. B Corp Certification measures our bank’s entire social and environmental impact and proves we meet high standards of verified performance, including how we treat people, run our business, and impact communities and the environment.
B Corp Certification must be earned and re-earned every three years. It can’t be bought.
How we use your money
The money in your account doesn't just sit there. Banks use it to lend and invest, so who you choose to bank with matters. Teachers earn their money doing good. Our pledge is to make sure it stays that way by investing your money ethically and responsibly.
What we fund
Most of our capital is used to fund mortgages and loans for teachers like you.
But supporting teachers goes beyond banking. Our profits also help fund scholarships, grants and programs that help teachers to develop, grow and lead.
What we don’t fund
Organisations that explore, extract, export coal, oil and gas, and/or combust these for power generation, and/or are major suppliers to these industries.
Organisations that grow, produce, retail, and sell tobacco related products or services including packaging and the manufacture of nicotine alternatives.
Organisations that operate or own gambling products or services.
Organisations that produce, own, operate, or distribute pornography.
Credentials and recognition
Our commitment to responsible banking is reflected in the accreditations that support our purpose of Banking for Good. Since 2014, we’ve earned over 60 recognitions for sustainability and ESG performance.
Backing teachers in meaningful ways
Investing in the education community
Every year, we support educators through programs, scholarships and grants that foster growth, strengthen leadership and deepen cultural understanding, helping them to learn, lead, and make a lasting impact.
Take Five
Take Five gives teachers a platform to recognise and celebrate each other for the great work they do every day.
Bell Shakespeare
For ten years, we’ve partnered with Bell Shakespeare to mentor 30 teachers each year - transforming how Shakespeare is taught and turning a subject many teachers and students dread into one they look forward to.
School Planners
Our annual School Planners help teachers and schools stay organised and focused.
Our contribution
towards
reconciliation
We are committed to taking an active role in Australia’s reconciliation journey. Our vision is for reconciliation to be part of who we are, informing how we work, support our members, and our community.
