CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEACHERS
As a member-owned bank for teachers and their families, supporting the education community is at the core of who we are. Every year we invest in teachers and future educators through scholarships, grants and programs that help them grow and thrive.
BELL SHAKESPEARE NATIONAL TEACHER MENTORSHIP
For ten years, we’ve supported the Bell Shakespeare National Teacher Mentorship, enabling 30 teachers each year to take part in a fully-funded professional development program. Through intensive workshops and year-long mentoring, participants gain new, practical ways to engage their students and grow their confidence in the classroom – strengthening teaching practices across Australia.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
Every year, we support educators at different stages of their careers with scholarships that build leadership, cultural understanding and professional growth.
Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship
This scholarship gives one government school principal the opportunity to attend a leadership program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. It’s a chance to reflect, refocus and strengthen their leadership capability through a world‑class learning experience.
Teachers Mutual Bank Victorian Mid-Career Scholarship
Delivered in partnership with the Public Education Foundation, this scholarship supports Victorian public school teachers with five to fifteen years’ experience. It provides funding for approved professional development, which can be used for a single course or for a set of professional learning activities.
NSW Premier’s Teachers Mutual Bank Aboriginal Education Scholarship
This scholarship helps teachers deepen their knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal education. It includes a five-week study tour in Australia or overseas, giving participants insights they can bring back to strengthen learning within their school communities.
TAKE FIVE TO RECOGNISE
Each year, in celebration of World Teachers’ Day Australia, our Take Five Initiative acknowledges the everyday achievements of teachers. It provides a simple and meaningful way for colleagues to recognise and appreciate one another.
A major supporter of Stewart House
For more than 40 years, we’re proud to have stood alongside Stewart House to provide children with the care and opportunities for new possibilities while on a vital break.
Each year Stewart House supports 1,600 public school children impacted by health or family issues, providing them with:
- Twelve days of respite care in a safe haven at no cost to their parents
- Dental, optical, hearing and medical treatment and screening
- Programs and excursions to develop their social and emotional skills
- Only around 8% of funding comes from government. It costs approximately $2,500 to support one child for the full 12-day program, funded largely by community, corporate, and grant support
