Visa payWave is a new contactless method of payment - the latest evolution in Visa payments. payWave technology enables you to 'tap' your card on a Visa payWave reader to make transactions up to $100, rather than 'swiping or dipping' your card. For purchases of $100 or more, just enter your PIN or sign for your transaction. It’s that simple.
payWave is a simple, secure and quick payment method with many benefits including:
- It saves time on both sides of the counter, with shorter transaction times and shorter queue times;
- It is more convenient, as there is no need to worry about carrying around pockets of cash;
- The card doesn't leave your hand at the checkout;
- There is no need to sign for transactions or enter a PIN for purchases up to $100, making it a great time saver.
In addition, cardholders are protected by

Visa Easy Payment Service
The Visa Easy Payment Service is designed for smaller value transactions and offers convenience and speed, as you don’t need to provide a signature or PIN. The service is for transactions of $35 or less.

Zero Liability adds a layer of protection and ensures you are not responsible for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions on your Visa card.
Visa's Zero Liability policy is Visa's guarantee that Visa cardholders will not have to bear liability for an unauthorised transaction, which includes transactions made through theft of the card or card fraud.
Visa's Zero Liability policy covers members:
- When the credit option is selected, followed by either entering PIN or signature
- For payWave transactions
- For online transactions
- For phone transactions
- For Visa Easy Payment Service transactions
- For overseas and domestic transactions when the credit option is selected.
Please note that ATM and EFTPOS transactions are
not covered by Visa's Zero Liability policy.
