Teachers Credit Union will visit Taree on 11th July, offering Credit Union Members the convenience of on-site loan applications, finance enquiries and financial advice.
Teachers Credit Union staff travel to towns and regions across New South Wales and provide an opportunity for the Credit Union's members to access a "mobile" bank office, rather than travel to Sydney to the Credit Union’s main office.
The Credit Union has more than 145,000 members, with many located in rural and regional areas.
With such a large member base spread throughout NSW and more than 1,650 members in the Taree region, Teachers Credit Union is at the forefront of providing innovative services to such a geographically spread membership.
To reach this membership the Credit Union was an early adopter of telephone banking and more recently internet banking. As an example, over 70% of its members use the Credit Union's free internet banking service.
These visits continue this innovative approach of providing a full banking service to members, regardless of where they live.
Teachers Credit Union is the largest credit union in New South Wales with more than 142,000 members, assets of $1.85 billion and has the highest member retention rate of any Australian credit union. It is open to teachers and administrative staff in public schools and TAFEs in NSW, ACT and NT as well as to members of their families.
In 2006, Teachers Credit Union celebrated 40 years of service to its members. Over its 40 years the Credit Union has been able to provide banking services to teachers, administrative staff and members of their families in rural, regional and remote locations, whether through personal visits, the telephone, or more recently the internet.
Members of Teachers Credit Union benefit from some of the lowest fees, best interest rates, and best service offered by any Australian financial institution.
Their Teachers Credit Card, Fixed Option Housing Loan, All Purpose Loans, New Car Loans and Used Car Loans have all been awarded 5 Stars by CANNEX for excellence. Their credit card has no annual fee, a true 55 day interest free period on purchases, and an introductory 6 month interest rate of 7.90% pa (11.50% pa thereafter).
Staff visit regional centres and provide Credit Union Members with easy access to Credit Union services. Members can apply for a housing or personal loan or Teachers Credit Card, open an account and discuss all their banking needs. Members have access to all the Credit Union'ls services except depositing and withdrawing cash.
This staff visit makes the Credit Union available to all members, their guest/partner, and all family members from 11.00am to 7.00pm on Wednesday 11th July at Club Taree, 121 Wingham Road.
