New name reflects multi-state Teachers Credit Union
03 February 2010
NSW Teachers Credit Union has officially dropped the ‘NSW’ from its name and will now be formally known as Teachers Credit Union.
The change of name reflects the institution’s status as a multi-state Credit Union with offices in NSW, WA and ACT, and representation in the Northern Territory. It is the only teachers’ Credit Union to have a presence in several states.
The change of name was ratified at the Teachers Credit Union AGM in October 2009 and approved by ASIC (Australian Securities and Investments Commission) at the end of last year.
“We have been known as Teachers Credit Union for some time, especially in our offices in the other states. However, it was important to formalise the name as it more accurately reflects our wider presence beyond NSW, and highlights the benefits for teachers, their families and others of belonging to the multi-state Teachers Credit Union,” said Steve James, CEO.
Mr James said while there are no plans to expand into other states in the immediate future, it could well feature in mid to long term planning.
