Eric Bailey motivates from da hood! A unique sponsorship with Teachers Credit Union

Motivational speaker and ex-NBA and NBL basketball player, Eric Bailey, continues to motivate and inspire students across New South Wales with his special stories and life insights.

Teachers Credit Union has maintained a special relationship with Eric over the past 3 years to bring his program to students and teachers across the State.

Eric's presentations encourage self-motivation, self-esteem and have a strong anti-drug and alcohol message, which captivates teenagers by his positive, energetic and memorable presentations.

This year Eric's program covered 8 schools across western and south west Sydney. The schools that received Eric's special brand of motivation were: Cabramatta High School, Cranebrook High School, Colyton High School, Macquarie Boys High School, Bankstown Senior College, Fairfield High School, Glenmore Park High School, and Leumeah High School

Eric uses his own background and life story to motivate teenagers. Growing up in the tough neighbourhood of South Central LA, diagnosed with a devastating bone disease, and no access to advanced medical services, Eric was determined to achieve and elevate himself to a bright future. Through persistence, planning and passion, he was able overcome his adversity graduating from Boise State University with a degree in marketing and communications and becoming a professional basketball player in both the US NBA and Australian National Basketball League.

"I would like to thank Eric for what he had to say today. It made me confident, it encouraged me and it just makes me want to get out in the world and do my best. He has pushed me in the right direction and shown me that I can achieve what I set my mind to as long as I strive and never give up", Cloyton High student representative.

Paul Humphrey, Deputy Principal of Colyton High School said: "Eric's presentation was the most appropriate and powerful presentation that I have seen offered to kids. Students listened to every word and a real connection was made. Thankyou to Teachers Credit Union for offering the opportunity of hosting Eric at our school."

Steve James, Teachers Credit Union CEO, said that sponsoring Eric Bailey's school program was an important aspect of the Credit Union's strong social responsibility mandate. "Our members are highly active socially responsible individuals and our Credit Union's ethos reflects this. "Eric's program offers young people inspiration and hope. It's about broadening their view on what can be achieved".

Teachers Credit Union has sponsored Eric Bailey for the past 3 years providing equipment and financial support. This year the Credit Union gave $20,000 towards Eric's NSW schools program.
