Our financial literacy programs

Northern Sydney Region multimedia competition

In partnership with the NSW Department of Education and Training Northern Sydney Region, we ran a competition to enhance the skills of students’ using their Digital Education Revolution laptops and associated software. Students in Year 9 and 10 Commerce were asked to make a multimedia product that promoted financial literacy, such as a budgeting tool or explaining what to look out for with mobile phone contracts.

Congratulations to the winning schools:

• 1st place – Northern Beaches Secondary College Cromer Campus ($4,000) who developed a website on the need to be careful with mobile phone costs, which included videos and fact sheets

• 2nd place – Normanhurst Boys High School ($2,500) for their video submissions on money management and being a careful consumer.

Schools will be using the funds to assist in promoting financial literacy. The initiative is expected to expand into other regions in 2011.
